Agent J (Will Smith) has to travel back in time to save Agent K's (Tommy Lee Jones) life from a vengeful alien criminal (Jemaine Clement) who has already gone back to murder his old nemesis. K had foiled the invasion of Earth in 1969, and his death would change history. J gets back a day before the fateful hour and hooks up with a young K (Josh Brolin). They work together to restore the timeline, and J learns some long-guarded secrets.
